The Addictions Recovery Ministry will host our 28th annual Women's Weekend January 10-January 12, 2014 at the Solomon Episcopal Conference Center. Our theme for the weekend is "Peace Begins With Me: Taking Responsibility One Act at a Time".
Our facilitator for the weekend is Karen Casey, Ph.D. Dr. Casey has more than 3 1/2 decades in AA and Al-Anon. She made a commitment to women and men in recovery from the moment she walked through the doors of a 12-Step meeting in 1974. Her work as a writer for people in recovery, coupled with her work as a lecturer and workshop presenter, followed. Her first book, Each Day a New Beginning: Daily Meditations for Women, was written in 1982. It was followed by The Promise of a New Day in 1983 and an additional 25 books since then. Her focus in the recent few books has been on relationships and how to live in them more peacefully.
During our time together, we will have an opportunity to share Morning Prayer, Holy Eucharist, a Taize Service, 12-step meetings, Reconciliation, Spiritual Direction, and a Dream Workshop. This weekend is a great opportunity for relaxing, reflecting, renewing, and visiting. It is a wonderful gift to ask for or to give yourself.
The weekend begins with supper at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, January 10th and ends following a 12-Step Morning Prayer Service on Sunday, January 12th, (about noon). You may check in on Friday January 10th after 4:00 p.m. However, participants may arrive at the Conference Center as early as 1:00 pm on Friday. On Friday night we will gather in the chapel at 7:30 p.m. to start the retreat with a celebration of the Holy Eucharist.
The cost of the weekend is $162 per person (multiple occupancy) and includes a room for two nights, Friday night supper, three full meals on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday. Sunday lunch is not provided. Check out time on Sunday is 10:00 am. A 50% non-refundable deposit is required and should be sent along with the attached registration form no later than January 01, 2013. Requests received after that date may not be able to be honored. e.
